Running my home solar battery setup for six months has changed how I think about electricity bills. I installed a 5kWh lithium iron phosphate battery alongside my rooftop panels and a grid tie inverter 1000w. On sunny afternoons, the panels charge the battery first, rather than sending everything straight to the utility.

I checked the solar charge controller and found its temperature sensor plug slightly loose after I had moved the inverter cabinet. Reseating it fixed the reading within a minute, and charging resumed. Since then, I have added a monthly inspection to my routine: checking cables, battery terminals, and the app alerts.
I especially appreciate the quiet operation. My old portable generator was noisy and awkward, while this system automatically switches to backup power for essential circuits. It does not run the whole house, but it keeps the refrigerator, modem, and hallway lights going.
I am still learning how weather affects storage. Several cloudy days mean I preserve the battery for evening essentials instead of running laundry. Overall, the setup feels practical rather than magical: less grid dependence, predictable savings, and a little more confidence when storms roll in. For my household, the solar battery has earned its space by doing useful work.
