Originally, I bought a solar battery because our evening electricity rates had become ridiculous, not because I wanted another gadget in the garage. Our rooftop solar already covered most daytime use, but the house started drawing from the grid as soon as my kids came home, dinner was cooking, and the heat pump switched on. My one annoying moment came during a cloudy week when the battery stopped discharging at 8:30 p.m., even though the app showed 42% capacity. I checked the breaker and inverter first, then noticed a warning about battery temperature. The garage had gotten surprisingly cold overnight, and the system had paused discharge as a protection measure. After warming the room and restarting the system, it recovered normally. I now keep a small temperature sensor in the garage and glance at the monitoring app every few days.
