2 months into using my home solar battery storage system, the biggest surprise has been how much calmer my evenings feel. Weather and usage were not identical, so I am not claiming the battery caused every dollar of that difference, but the peak-hour savings were obvious. The best part is that I no longer have to obsess over turning everything off at 4:59.
I did have one minor troubleshooting moment. During a cloudy week, the battery reserve fell lower than I expected, and the app showed “grid charging.” I changed the reserve from 30 percent to 20 percent, then watched the power flow. This adjustment made the system behave without risking an empty battery. I raise it before storms for extra backup protection during our longer winter outages and summer storms.
