batterie aliant

After bringing home my solar battery system last spring, I noticed the biggest difference during the evening peak hours. Before installation, my panels produced plenty of electricity at lunchtime, but we sent much of it back to the grid and bought power again after dinner. Adding a batterie aliant storage unit changed that pattern in a way I could see on my electricity bill.

Our household usually starts cooking around 6:30, then runs the dishwasher and laundry later. I set the battery to charge from surplus solar during the day and discharge from 5:00 to 10:00 p.m. On clear days, it covers nearly all of our evening use. The first month with this schedule cut the energy portion of our bill by 35%, from about $142 to $92 (before taxes and fixed charges). That is not a number, but it feels because the savings repeat each month.

The battery monitoring app has made our habits more visible. I check solar production, state of charge, and household load before turning on the dryer. I avoid draining the battery completely because keeping a reserve helps during outages. We have had one outage, but the lights stayed on and the refrigerator never stopped.

My troubleshooting moment came when the battery stopped discharging one evening. The app showed a communication warning. I power-cycled the gateway, checked the Wi-Fi connection, and waited ten minutes. It resumed, and support explained that the inverter had missed a software heartbeat. Since then, I have kept the gateway closer to the router and installed firmware.

What I appreciate is that the solar battery works. It is not something I think about; I notice less grid electricity during expensive hours and a smaller bill. For my home, storage was more useful than adding another panel.
