The biggest difference my home solar battery made was not seeing the panels produce more, but being able to use that energy after sunset. Before installing a 10 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery with a hybrid inverter, I sent almost all evening power back to the grid. My air conditioner, induction cooktop, and water heater were doing their most expensive work between 4 and 9 p.m. Now the battery handles that window, and my utility meter barely moves until morning.
On sunny days, it reaches 100% charge by midafternoon. I usually still have 25 to 35% left at sunrise, even after running the refrigerator, router, lights, and a small dehumidifier overnight. That reserve has made my bill noticeably calmer. My monthly summer bill dropped from about $180 to $95, although weather varies. The biggest savings come from avoiding peak electricity rates, not from eliminating every grid purchase. I checked the local time-of-use schedule before changing the inverter's discharge settings.
