Solution Solar Inverter
Over the past six months, my solar battery has changed the way I use electricity at home more than I expected. I installed a 10 kWh home energy storage system beside my inverter, using a solis vxelriktare as the controller. The installation itself was painless, although the electrician spent extra time checking the battery backup settings and updating the firmware.
The biggest difference shows up between 4 p.m. and 9 p.m. Before the battery, our electric meter raced whenever we cooked dinner, ran the heat pump, and charged my wife's laptop after sunset. Now the lithium battery stores excess solar power during the day and supplies those evening loads. On sunny days, it usually reaches 100 percent before lunch. I have watched our peak-hour consumption fall dramatically, and our monthly bill is typically 30 to 40 percent lower than last year, despite using roughly the same amount of electricity. That saving feels more real than any advertised efficiency figure.
I did have one frustrating moment. After a cloudy weekend, the battery stopped discharging at about 22 percent. The app showed no fault, just “standby.” I checked the breaker, restarted the monitoring gateway, and waited. Nothing changed. A call to the installer revealed that a software update had temporarily changed the reserve setting to 20 percent, leaving no usable capacity. They corrected it remotely, and the battery immediately began covering our evening demand again.
I still keep the reserve fairly high because outages are common during winter storms. The backup power is not enough to run everything, but it comfortably handles the refrigerator, Wi-Fi, lights, and circulation pump. For me, the solar battery’s value is simple: less peak-rate electricity, quieter evenings, and more control over energy use. I check the app most mornings, but I no longer obsess over every kilowatt-hour.
