Most evenings, I used to watch my electricity meter race whenever the sun went down. My rooftop solar panels generated plenty during the afternoon, but our cooking, fans, and water pump all came on after sunset. I installed an amaron tubular battery with a hybrid inverter mainly to cover those expensive evening hours, rather than chase complete energy independence. It has made the biggest difference to our routine.
Before installing it, my monthly bill usually climbed to around ₹3,800 during the hottest months. After adding the solar battery, it has generally stayed near ₹2,400, even though our usage has not changed much. The saving is not magic: the inverter charges the battery from daytime solar, then runs the refrigerator, lights, Wi-Fi, and two fans through the evening peak. I still draw grid power late at night, but avoiding those first few high-use hours is where I notice the difference.
The most useful surprise has been the consistency during short power cuts. One stormy afternoon, the grid failed while my battery was at 62%. Everything kept running except the water pump, which I deliberately left off to protect the remaining charge. That night, however, the inverter showed a low battery warning earlier than expected. I checked the connections and found one terminal slightly loose. Tightening it fixed the warning, and I now include terminal checks in my monthly maintenance routine.
I have not added more batteries yet. My system carries essential loads for about five hours. I would rather wait until our evening demand grows than expand prematurely. The system is quiet, and I rarely think about it except when the power goes out or the monthly bill arrives. For me, that practical payoff matters more than specifications: using more of my solar power and relying less on the grid.
