Solution Solar Battery
For the first month after installing my solar energy storage battery, I kept checking the app. My setup is ten rooftop panels, a 10kWh hybrid inverter, and a bank of 280Ah Cell battery modules in the garage. I chose this size because my evening electricity use is modest, but our utility charges a painful peak rate from 4 to 9pm.
Before the battery, my family tried to avoid laundry and cooking during those hours. That was annoying, and we still paid around $180 a month in summer. Now the battery charges from midday solar production and carries the house through dinner, showers, and evening TV time. On sunny days, I often reach bedtime with 20–30% remaining. My bill was $112, even during a hot month, so the saving was roughly $68. It is not a perfect year-round result; cloudy weeks still pull some grid power, but the peak-hour reduction is obvious.
The most useful feature has been the battery reserve setting. I keep 25% held back for outages, after one storm cut power while I was cooking. The switchover was automatic, but the inverter beeped twice and the app showed a confusing “communication delayed” warning. I found the battery was fine; our router had rebooted. Once Wi-Fi returned, the readings synchronized and nothing had stopped working. That scare made me appreciate having a physical display on the inverter instead of relying on my phone.
After six months, I have not noticed capacity loss. The battery is quiet, and it rarely reaches full before lunch in winter, which is expected. I wipe dust from the vents and check the cable connections every few months. For my household, the biggest win is: I use of my own solar electricity instead of selling it cheaply back to the grid.
