Voltage dips used to make me nervous, especially when our solar battery was supposed to carry the house through evening peaks. After installing the eve 90ah unit, that worry has mostly disappeared.
My setup is fairly modest: six rooftop panels, a hybrid inverter, and the eve 90ah lithium battery mounted in the garage. I chose it mainly for time-of-use savings, not because I wanted to be completely off-grid. During sunny hours, the panels run the refrigerator, washing machine, and other loads first, then send leftover solar power into storage. At around 4:30 p.m., the battery takes over automatically, which means we avoid buying much electricity during our utility’s expensive peak window.
The difference showed up on the first full bill. My usual summer bill was about $180, but it dropped to $112. That is not a miracle—we had several sunny days and I still use grid power overnight when the battery reaches its reserve. Still, saving roughly $68 in one month felt very real. I now keep the reserve at 20%, so an unexpected outage does not leave us in the dark.
The only hiccup happened after a firmware update. The app showed the battery at 0% even though the inverter was charging. I power-cycled the inverter, waited five minutes, and then the reading corrected itself. Support later confirmed the update had briefly desynchronized the monitoring app, not the battery.
Since then, performance has been boring in the best possible way. I check the state-of-charge before bed, but rarely touch anything. For me, that quiet reliability matters more than flashy specifications. The system simply stores daytime solar energy, reduces peak-hour grid use, and quietly saves money.
