Using my solar battery storage system for six months has changed the way I think about electricity at home. Before installation, our evening usage was the expensive part of the day: lights, fans, television, and cooking all started after sunset, exactly when grid rates were highest. I chose a 5kWh lithium-ion battery paired with a hybrid inverter, mainly because I wanted to use my rooftop solar after dark instead of sending everything back to the grid.

During the first week, I kept checking the inverter app like a child with a new toy. It showed solar charging the battery through the afternoon, then the battery covering most of our household load from about 6pm to 10pm. By midnight, it usually had 20–30% remaining, which gave me confidence during short outages too.

The biggest practical difference appeared on my monthly bill. Before storage, our peak-hour consumption averaged roughly 180 units. After adjusting the battery reserve to discharge during that window, peak usage fell to around 60–70 units. My bills are typically ₹1,000–₹1,300 lower per month, although savings vary with weather and how much air conditioning we use. I did not expect dramatic zero bills, but the reduction is very noticeable.

I also checked the luminous 1650 inverter price while shopping, but chose a different hybrid model with monitoring and warranty.

My only issue came during monsoon. The battery stopped charging after an isolation warning appeared. I switched off solar input and called installer. A technician found a loose connector next morning. Since tightening it, backup power has been reliable.

For me, the value is lower bills and dependable evening backup. I would match battery capacity to evening load and check warranty and service carefully.
