It’s been about six months since we got our solar panels and, more importantly, the lithium ion battery ups for home installed, and honestly, I’m still a little amazed by it all. The biggest win for us, hands down, has been the peak-hour savings. Before, just looking at our electricity bill when the grid rates went up in the evenings made my stomach churn. Now, it’s like we have our own little power plant.

We charge the battery fully during the day when the sun is pumping out energy from the panels. Then, from about 5 PM to 9 PM, when the electricity company charges the most, we run almost entirely off the battery. It’s so satisfying to see the meter spinning backward or standing still during those times. We've easily cut our evening energy consumption costs by nearly 60%, which adds up to a noticeable chunk of change each month. It's not just about the money, though; there's a real sense of security knowing we're not completely beholden to fluctuating grid prices. Power outages used to be a major headache, but with the battery, our essential appliances like the fridge and Wi-Fi stay on without a hiccup. It’s a game-changer for our household budget and peace of mind.
