Solution Solar Battery
Using my solar battery storage system through a full summer has changed how I think about electricity bills. I installed a Huawei inverter built around the "huawei sun 2000 6ktl m1" and paired it with a 10kWh lithium battery. The setup was not painless, but it was manageable. My installer mounted the battery in the garage, and getting the cables neatly through the wall took most of the day. Once the monitoring app connected, I could see solar generation, battery state of charge, and household consumption without guessing.
The difference appears between 4pm and 9pm, when my charges the highest rate. Before storage, I would export cheap midday solar power and then buy expensive electricity while cooking dinner, running the dishwasher, and charging our electric car. Now the battery charges from rooftop solar during the afternoon and covers most of that evening load. My average monthly bill has fallen from about $185 to $78, although weather and usage vary. In the months, I sometimes make it through two evenings before needing grid power.
One small troubleshooting moment happened after a firmware update. The battery stopped discharging at its schedule, even though the app showed plenty of charge. I checked the backup reserve setting, restarted the inverter, and waited overnight. Nothing changed. My installer spotted that the time-of-use tariff window had shifted by an hour. Correcting the schedule fixed everything, and the battery has been reliable since.
What I appreciate most is the quiet, automatic operation. I rarely think about it unless I am checking the solar battery dashboard or comparing bills. The system has not eliminated my electricity costs, but it has made them far more predictable. For anyone considering home energy storage, I would prioritize accurate consumption data and a configured tariff plan over chasing the largest battery possible.
