growatt hybrid inverter 10kw

Running my home on solar battery storage has changed the way I think about electricity bills. I installed a 10kWh lithium battery alongside a growatt hybrid inverter 10kw last autumn, mainly to avoid buying expensive power during the evening peak. Before the installation, our biggest usage happened between 5 and 9 p.m., when the solar panels had already stopped producing. Now the battery supplies most of that period.

On a typical sunny day, the panels charge the battery by early afternoon. When the electricity rate rises, the inverter automatically switches the house over to stored energy. I usually see the battery fall from around 95% to 35% overnight, covering cooking, lights, the refrigerator, Wi-Fi, and a short washing-machine cycle. Our daily grid consumption has dropped noticeably, and the bill is roughly 30 to 40 percent lower than during the same months last year. The exact saving changes with the weather, but the peak-hour reduction is very consistent.

I did have one small troubleshooting moment during the first week. The battery stopped discharging at about 50%, even though the monitoring app showed plenty of charge remaining. After checking the settings, I found the backup reserve had been set too high. I lowered it to 20%, while keeping a reasonable emergency buffer for outages, and normal operation returned immediately. That was a useful lesson: the hardware was fine, but the battery settings mattered more than I expected.

What I like most is the quiet, automatic operation. I rarely think about the solar inverter or battery management system now. I simply check the app every few days, especially before a cloudy stretch, and adjust our usage if necessary. For me, the system’s biggest value is not total energy independence; it is using my own solar power after sunset instead of purchasing electricity at the most expensive time.
