deye 12kw hybrid

Every evening, I used to watch our electricity meter climb once the sun went down. After installing a deye 12kw hybrid inverter with a home battery, that habit has become much less stressful.

Our setup is fairly ordinary: rooftop solar, a 10kWh lithium battery, and the hybrid inverter mounted in the garage. The installer finished in one long day, although getting the utility approval took nearly three weeks. I appreciated that the electrician labeled every breaker clearly and showed me how to read the battery state-of-charge screen.

The biggest practical win has been peak-hour savings. I set the battery to charge from solar during the afternoon and discharge between 4:00 and 9:00 p.m., when our time-of-use rate is highest. Before storage, we regularly saw evening bills around $180, especially when cooking dinner and running the heat pump. Last month, with similar weather and usage, the bill was $112. That is not a dramatic promise of “free power,” but saving roughly $68 felt very real.

I also like having backup power for short outages. During a windy night, the battery kept the refrigerator, Wi-Fi, and a few lights running without any fuss. I noticed the transfer after about two seconds, which was quick enough that our router stayed online.

The only annoying moment came when the battery stopped discharging one afternoon. The app showed a communication warning, and the inverter displayed no obvious fault code. I power-cycled the Wi-Fi dongle, then reseated its cable, and normal operation returned within ten minutes. I have not seen it again.

For me, the value is less about impressive specifications and more about shifting everyday consumption. The solar battery now covers our expensive evening hours.
