Most mornings, I check the battery app before coffee. After six months with my rooftop solar and home battery, I have settled into a simple routine: charge from the panels during the day, then use stored energy after sunset. The biggest change is not the technology itself, but how calmly I watch electricity prices now. On sunny days, my battery reaches 100 percent by early afternoon, and the inverter switches our house over without any fuss.
Before the battery, my evening usage was expensive: cooking, washing clothes, and running the heat-pump water heater all landed in the peak window. Now, I usually see only a small grid import after 5pm. My last bill was about 40% lower than the same month last year, despite using the air conditioner more often. The exact saving changes with weather, of course, but the battery has made peak-hour rates much less painful.

For me, the best part is seeing less dependence on the grid every evening, with savings that are easy to notice.
