Solution Solar Inverter
Our solar battery changed how I use the electricity from my rooftop panels. Before installation, bright afternoons felt wasteful because I exported cheap power, then bought expensive electricity after sunset. I chose a 10 kWh home battery mainly for evening cooking, not energy independence headlines. The cost of home battery was significant, so I compared usable capacity, warranty terms, and the installer’s workmanship rather than chasing the cheapest quote.
Installation itself took most of a day. The crew mounted the battery in my garage beside the hybrid inverter and added a new monitoring meter. They explained that my reserve setting determines how much backup power remains during an outage. I set it at 20 percent, which seemed like a practical balance between backup protection and everyday savings. The app was easy enough, although the graphs initially made me think the battery was charging slowly. A support technician pointed out that the display showed household demand at the same time, so the battery was actually filling normally.
The biggest difference appears during peak hours. My utility’s expensive period begins at 4 p.m., just when I start laundry, cook dinner, and turn on the heat pump. Now the solar battery discharges first, and grid consumption stays close to zero until around 9 p.m. In the first full month, my bill fell from $186 to $112, even though the weather was only average. That $74 monthly reduction is more meaningful to me than a flashy app score. The result varies with sunlight and heating demand, but battery storage has made the savings much steadier.
One minor issue appeared during a three-hour outage: the battery stopped discharging at 18 percent. The installer found an automatic backup setting had been enabled incorrectly, fixed it remotely, and it has worked properly since then. I rarely check it now.
