8 months ago, I installed a 48v lithium ion battery 100ah server rack in my garage. My goal was simple: use daytime solar energy after sunset instead of buying expensive evening power.

On cloudy days, I have learned not to chase a full charge. I set the inverter's reserve at 25% so there’s emergency backup and let it charge only from solar.
One evening, the monitoring app showed battery output had stopped while the house was still drawing power. The battery terminals were fine; a communication cable between inverter and battery had loosened slightly. I powered everything down, reseated it, and the system resumed within minutes. Since then, I check that cable during monthly cleaning and have had no repeat.
What I like most is the quiet practicality of this setup. There is no daily button pushing: solar fills the storage battery, the battery carries the evening, and the grid covers the rest. For me, it works.
