Over the past eight months, my solar deye battery has changed the way I use electricity at home. Before installing it, I watched my solar panels export cheap afternoon power while I bought expensive electricity after dinner. That felt especially wasteful during summer evenings, when the air conditioner was running.

The installer mounted the hybrid inverter beside my existing switchboard and placed the lithium battery in the garage. I did spend an afternoon learning the monitoring app, because its first screen showed several numbers I did not understand. Once I figured out state of charge, solar generation, and household load, it became genuinely useful.

The biggest improvement appears on my evening bill. I programmed the solar battery to charge during daylight and discharge through the peak period. On ordinary weekdays, the battery covers lights, refrigeration, computers, and usually the air conditioner until bedtime. My grid usage after 5 p.m. has fallen dramatically. Comparing similar months, I am saving roughly $45 to $70 per month, depending on weather and how often we run the dryer. That is not a miracle overnight, but it is a noticeable reduction in my power bill, and the battery should pay for itself sooner than I first estimated.

I did have one minor troubleshooting moment. After a firmware update, the inverter stopped discharging at the scheduled time. The app showed normal battery voltage, so I checked the time-of-use settings and found the tariff schedule had reset. I restored it, restarted the system, and everything worked that night.

Since then, I glance at the monitoring data once or twice a week, rather than obsessing over every watt. For me, the real benefit is simple: more of my own solar power stays in my house, evening peak charges hurt less, and the lithium storage system quietly does its job.
