I installed a 48V LiFePO4 battery in my home solar system last spring, mainly to stop buying expensive electricity after sunset. My rooftop array is only 5.4 kW, so I was not expecting complete energy independence. That schedule cut my monthly bill from roughly $185 to $112 over the summer, despite similar air-conditioning use. It is not a magical zero-dollar bill, but saving around $70 each month feels meaningful. More importantly, I am using my own solar power instead of exporting it cheaply at midday and buying it back at night.
