Now the battery charges whenever solar production exceeds household demand. At sunset, it automatically switches over, and I usually stay on stored energy until bedtime. According to my bills, our monthly peak-hour usage has fallen by roughly 70%. In summer, that saves about $45–$60 a month; in cloudy winter, the saving is closer to $20–$30. It is not a dramatic disappearance of the power bill, but it makes the bill much steadier and more predictable.

I did have one minor scare during the first month. The app showed the battery at 100%, yet the inverter was still drawing from the grid. I checked breakers, restarted the monitoring gateway, and waited. Nothing changed. A support technician spotted that the time-of-use schedule had been entered in the wrong tariff season. After correcting it, the system began discharging at the correct hour. That small lesson taught me not to judge a solar battery from one confusing screen.

Six months in, I appreciate the quietness more than anything. There is no noticeable noise from the battery, and I rarely think about it. I simply check the state of charge after storms too.
