I installed my solar battery last spring, mainly to stop sending cheap daytime electricity back to the grid and then buying it back during expensive evening hours. The unit I chose is marked “lifepo4 1255bms 100,” a LiFePO4 battery with a 100Ah rating, and it has made the biggest difference between 5 p.m. and bedtime.
Before storage, my solar panels produced plenty around lunchtime, but our household used most power after work. The dishwasher, induction cooker, lights, television, and heat-pump water heater all came on when the utility rate was highest. Now the battery charges from solar during the afternoon and discharges automatically after sunset. On sunny days, I often make it through the evening without drawing much from the grid. My monthly bill has dropped by roughly 25–35%, depending on weather and how much heating or cooling we use. That is not a perfect number every month, but the peak-hour savings are very noticeable.
I also appreciate the battery management system, or BMS. I was initially nervous about monitoring temperature and state of charge, but the app makes the information fairly clear. I usually keep the battery between about 20% and 90% rather than forcing a full discharge every night. The inverter, solar charge controller, and battery communicate reliably, although the first week included one small annoyance: the app showed the battery as offline after our Wi-Fi router restarted. The battery itself kept working; I only needed to reconnect the monitoring dongle.
The system is quiet, and I have not noticed any smell or heat in the garage. During a brief outage, it powered the refrigerator, modem, lights, and a few outlets without drama, which was reassuring. My main advice is to size the battery around your actual evening consumption and confirm inverter compatibility before buying. For me, dependable cycling and lower peak-rate usage matter more than chasing a flashy maximum capacity figure.
