inverter price

Nearly a year ago I added a 10-kWh lithium iron-phosphate solar battery to my rooftop system, mostly to stop buying expensive evening electricity. The installer mounted it in my garage, beside the inverter, and setup took one afternoon. I had expected a complicated process, but the electrician finished wiring, app pairing, and backup test before dinner. I did spend time comparing battery capacity, round-trip efficiency, warranty, and inverter price before signing. The cheapest quote was not the best value for my house.

My favorite improvement is the change in peak-hour bills. Before storage, my solar panels produced plenty at lunchtime, but our family used most power after work: cooking, laundry, air conditioning, and hot-water heating. The battery now charges from surplus solar during the day and discharges from about four until ten p.m. That window used to be my most expensive period. On sunny days, the meter barely moves during those hours. My monthly bill fell by roughly 35 percent overall, though I still pay more in winter when short daylight limits charging. I appreciate that saving more than a flashy dashboard statistic.

The only hiccup happened during a very hot week. The battery stopped discharging at its usual time, and the monitoring app showed “standby” instead of “self-consumption.” I checked the breaker, restarted the app, and discovered a firmware update had changed the reserve setting from 20 to 50 percent. After lowering the reserve again, the battery resumed normally that evening. Nothing was broken, but I now check settings after every update rather than assuming the system is misbehaving. I also keep a small record of daily solar generation, battery charge, and grid imports so I can spot unusual changes quickly.

For my home, the storage battery is worthwhile: it reduces peak rates without changing how we live. I’d buy it again.
