Running my home on solar storage has changed the way I think about electricity. My daily bill savings are not spectacular every day, because winter clouds still happen, but the peak charges have noticeably dropped our monthly statement. Last summer, our evening usage often cost around $2 to $3 in grid energy. After changing the battery schedule to preserve solar for those hours, that portion was usually under fifty cents. Across a month, that worked out to roughly $35 in savings, with more during heat waves.
I did have a hiccup. After a firmware update, the app showed the battery at zero percent even though the inverter was supplying our evening loads. I rebooted the communication gateway, waited minutes, and the reading returned. Since then, I check the cables and alerts monthly.
