Using my new solar battery has changed the way I think about electricity at home. Before the installation, my rooftop panels produced plenty during the day, but I still bought expensive power from the grid every evening. That felt especially wasteful after watching the inverter export energy at lunchtime.

I chose a fullriver battery system mainly to cover those peak hours. The installer mounted it in the garage, beside the inverter, and the setup was less disruptive than I expected. The electrician added a dedicated breaker, checked the battery management system, and walked me through the monitoring app. I did have to change one setting so the battery would charge from solar first rather than pulling from the grid. That small conversation probably saved me from a week of confusing numbers.

Since then, I have noticed the biggest difference between 4:00pm and 9:00pm. The battery runs my refrigerator, lights, router, television, and sometimes the induction cooktop while rates are highest. I used to see evening bills around $6–$8, depending on the weather and our cooking habits. Now those same evenings usually add less than $2, and on sunny days the battery carries nearly everything until bedtime. The monthly savings are not dramatic in winter, when cloudy days leave less stored energy, but over the year they are noticeable.

My favorite part is seeing the state of charge rise quietly while I work. I set a reserve of 25%, so there is still backup power during an outage. One evening the app showed a communication warning after our Wi-Fi router briefly restarted. I panicked for about thirty seconds, then realized the battery itself was still operating; only the display had disappeared. Reconnecting the router cleared it.
