Using my solar panels without a battery always felt like leaving money on the roof. Most of my generation happened around midday, when our household used relatively little electricity, while the expensive peak period arrived after dinner. The installation itself was less dramatic than I expected. The installer mounted the battery in the garage beside the inverter, connected it to the existing system, and spent a good amount of time checking the monitoring app. I mainly cared about one setting: making sure the battery charged from solar rather than the grid. On the first evening, I watched it discharge while the oven, lights, and heat pump were running. Seeing the power flow reverse was strangely satisfying.

The biggest practical improvement has been our evening bill. Before the battery, we regularly imported electricity between 5 and 9 p.m. Now the battery usually covers that period, unless the day was cloudy or we used several appliances at once. Our monthly electricity charges have fallen by roughly 30 to 40 percent compared with the same months last year. The exact savings vary, but avoiding peak-rate power has made the battery worthwhile for us.

I did have one minor scare. After a firmware update, the app showed the battery at zero percent even though the inverter indicated it was charged. I checked the physical connections, restarted the monitoring gateway, and waited about fifteen minutes. The reading corrected itself, and the battery continued working normally. Customer support also confirmed it was only an app synchronization problem.

What I appreciate most is the predictability. I do not have to change our routines or constantly watch electricity prices. On sunny days, the panels fill the battery, and after sunset, that stored energy quietly carries us through the costly hours.
