Solution LiFePO4 Battery Cell
Every evening, I check the battery screen before I start cooking. After installing a felicity solar lithium battery in my garage last spring, our solar setup has felt less dependent on the grid. The difference is not dramatic during afternoons; it is what happens after sunset, when the house keeps using power but the solar panels stop producing.
I programmed the battery to charge from our rooftop solar and discharge during the utility’s peak period, roughly 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. On a day, it covers the refrigerator, Wi-Fi, lights, and most of dinner. We still pull a grid electricity when the induction cooktop and heat pump run together, but our evening usage has dropped noticeably. Before adding storage, our monthly bill was around $145. Since installation, comparable months have been closer to $82, with the biggest improvement in summer. That is not a comparison, but the utility statements are to argue with.
The battery’s state-of-charge display is the feature I use most. I like seeing it at 95–100% after a bright day and watching it settle around 35% by bedtime. I set a reserve of 25% for outages, so it does not completely empty just to save a few extra dollars. During one cloudy week, the battery reached that reserve earlier than expected. I worried something was wrong, then realized the panels had not produced enough energy. Once the weather cleared, normal solar charging returned.
Installation was tidy, and the battery has been quiet enough that I forget it is in the garage. For me, the practical win is predictable peak-hour bill savings, not total energy independence. I monitor the solar battery app weekly, but I no longer obsess over every appliance. The storage system has made our solar investment feel useful after dark, which is exactly what I wanted.
