Charging the eco watt neo 1050 from my rooftop solar panels has changed the way I think about our electricity bill. We installed it in late spring, mainly to keep daytime solar power available after sunset instead of sending so much energy back to the grid.
The installation was less dramatic than I expected, although the electrician spent extra time checking the inverter settings and adding a dedicated circuit in the garage. Once everything was commissioned, I set the battery to charge from solar first and discharge during our utility's peak-rate window. That simple schedule has been the biggest practical win.
Before the battery, our air conditioner, induction cooking, and evening lights pushed us into expensive hours almost every day. Now the solar battery usually carries the house from about 5 p.m. until bedtime. On clear days, the meter barely moves during peak time, and our monthly bill has fallen by roughly $35 to $50 compared with the same months last year.
The exact savings vary with weather, of course, but watching the battery state of charge stay above 20 percent feels reassuring.
I did have one minor troubleshooting moment. After a firmware update, the app showed the battery offline even though the inverter's indicator was green. I power-cycled the communications gateway, waited five minutes, and restarted the monitoring app. That fixed the connection, but the history for that evening disappeared.
It was not a serious problem—the home kept running and the battery continued charging—but it reminded me that software is part of the storage system too. I now check the app once a week rather than obsessing over it.
Overall, the value has been simple: use more of my own solar energy, avoid peak electricity rates, and rely less on the grid. For us, that is more useful than graphs.
