Verifying my evening electricity use was the moment I finally understood why I had installed a home solar battery. Before adding storage, my rooftop panels produced plenty during the afternoon, but I still bought expensive power after dinner. I power-cycled the communications dongle, waited five minutes, and restarted the app. Everything reappeared, including state of charge and solar input. Since then, I check firmware updates before sunset only.
The biggest improvement is not total independence; it is timing. My utility bill is usually twenty-five to thirty-five percent lower, depending on weather, because I avoid the evening peak rate. I still watch consumption, especially when the heat pump runs, but I no longer feel punished for cooking dinner after sunset. For me, battery storage has made solar power calmer.
