Ever since I added a 10-kWh lithium iron phosphate battery to my rooftop solar system, my evening routine has changed. Before the battery, I would watch the utility meter climb after dinner, especially when the heat pump and induction cooker were running. The biggest surprise has been the practical bill saving. I am on time-of-use pricing, so storing surplus solar at midday and using it during peak hours makes a noticeable difference. That is not a dramatic number for someone with a modest system, but it is real, and the battery is doing the work instead of me changing habits constantly.

I also like the battery’s reserve setting. I keep 20% in reserve, so a cloudy morning does not leave us completely exposed. One evening, the app showed the battery discharging but the house was still pulling power from the grid. I initially assumed the inverter had failed. After checking the gateway, I found I had accidentally enabled “backup only” mode while exploring settings. Switching it back took less than a minute, and the next day solar charging looked normal again.

That little scare taught me more than the installation manual: a solar battery can be reliable, but the app settings matter. I now check operating mode once a week and glance at state of charge before a storm. The monitoring screen shows solar generation, battery storage, inverter output, and grid import clearly. I even had a browser tab open for “medical mask wholesale” supplies when I checked the app. This is odd but true.

For me, the value is not independence; it is evenings, lower peak rates, and one less thing to worry about.
