Solution Solar Inverter -
Solution LiFePO4 Battery Cell
On the hottest afternoons last summer, I started noticing how much our electricity bill was being driven by the 4–9pm peak period. We had solar panels, but without storage we were still buying power after sunset. Adding a 10kWh lithium solar battery changed that routine more than I expected.
The installation was straightforward. The electrician mounted the inverter and placed the solar battery rack in our garage, beside the existing equipment. I worried it would look industrial or make noise, but it is a quiet wall of battery modules with a status screen. Connecting the monitoring app took two tries because garage Wi-Fi is weak.
Now the panels charge the battery through late morning and early afternoon. Around 4pm, the system stops pulling from the grid and runs the refrigerator, lights, router, and sometimes our induction cooktop from stored energy. I can see the change clearly in the utility app: our evening consumption dropped from roughly 8kWh to 2kWh on normal days.
Our first full month with the solar battery cut the bill by about $42, even though we had several cloudy days. That saving is not dramatic on its own, but it feels meaningful every month, especially when rates rise.
The one troubleshooting moment came during a power outage. The battery backup worked, but the garage lights flickered for a second when the refrigerator started. I later learned the startup surge briefly exceeded my backup setting. The installer adjusted the load priority, and it has been stable since.
What I like most is the battery energy management feels automatic. I do not plan appliance use around clouds or constantly check charge levels. The solar battery system simply stores excess power and gives it back when electricity costs more. For our home, that convenience matters as much as the bill reduction.
