deye sun 10k

Early this year, I finally added a deye sun 10k hybrid inverter and battery storage to my rooftop solar system. Before that, I was exporting most of my afternoon power for a small credit, then buying it back during the expensive evening peak hours. The change has been most noticeable after dinner. My 13.5-kWh lithium iron phosphate battery usually reaches full charge by around 2:30 p.m., even on a normal sunny day. Once the sun goes down, I switch the house to battery power instead of drawing from the grid.

That simple schedule has cut my evening grid consumption dramatically. On weekdays, I run the refrigerator, Wi-Fi, lights, television, and even the dishwasher from stored solar energy. My utility app shows roughly 7–9 kWh less purchased each day, which works out to about $2–$3 saved daily in summer. That may not sound huge, but over a month it has been close to $75, and the battery should pay for itself faster than I expected.

One small issue appeared during the first week. The battery stopped discharging at 20 percent, even though the house was still using power. I initially thought the inverter was faulty. After checking the settings, I found the backup reserve had accidentally been set high in the monitoring app. Lowering it to 15% fixed the problem immediately. I kept the reserve slightly above zero because we sometimes lose power during storms, and I like having a little emergency backup.

What I appreciate most is not seeing the battery as a gadget but as a daily bill-saving tool. I check the state of charge with my morning coffee, adjust the load schedule when rain is forecast, and let the solar battery do its job quietly. There are no dramatic noises or complicated maintenance routines.
