Solution Solar Battery
8 months ago, I added a 280ah 磷電池 to my rooftop solar setup, mainly because my electricity bill kept jumping during the evening peak period. I already had solar panels, but without energy storage, most of the daytime production went back to the grid while my family used the most power after dinner.
The installation was easier than I expected. The installer mounted the battery in my garage, connected it to a hybrid inverter, and configured the battery management system (BMS). I spent more time deciding where to put it than watching the actual wiring. The battery is fairly compact for its capacity, and I like that the lithium iron phosphate chemistry feels safer and more suitable for daily cycling than the older battery types I considered.
The biggest practical difference is what happens between 5 p.m. and 10 p.m. My solar battery charges during the afternoon, then supplies the refrigerator, lights, Wi-Fi equipment, television, and sometimes the washing machine. On a normal sunny day, I use almost no grid electricity during those expensive hours. My monthly bill has dropped by roughly 30 to 40 percent, although the exact savings depend heavily on weather and how much air conditioning we use.
One small troubleshooting moment happened during a week of heavy rain. The battery stopped discharging overnight because its reserve setting had been accidentally raised to 40 percent in the monitoring app. I initially thought something was wrong with the solar inverter. After lowering the reserve to 20 percent, normal operation returned. That experience taught me to check the app settings before assuming the hardware has failed.
So far, the best part has been predictability. I can see the solar generation, battery state of charge, and household consumption on my phone, and I no longer feel that I am wasting daytime solar power. It has not eliminated my bill, but the storage system makes my solar investment noticeably more useful every day.
