Ever since I installed my home battery storage system last spring, my evening electricity routine has changed more than I expected. The main reason I chose the deye sg04lp3 setup was to use my daytime solar surplus after sunset instead of sending nearly all of it back to the grid.
Installation was less dramatic than I feared. My installer mounted the hybrid inverter and LiFePO4 battery in the utility room, then connected the battery management system and programmed a time-of-use schedule. We set charging to begin only when my rooftop panels were producing more than the house needed, and discharging to cover the expensive evening period. I did spend an hour watching the monitoring app because the battery initially showed “standby” longer than I expected. It turned out the minimum state-of-charge reserve was set conservatively, not a fault. After the installer adjusted that, everything behaved normally.
The biggest practical difference appears on my utility bill. Before storage, I regularly ran the clothes dryer, dishwasher, and heat pump during peak hours. Now my solar battery improves self-consumption, handling most of that evening load. My monthly bill has dropped by roughly 35 to 45 percent, depending on weather and how much cooking we do. That is not a perfect number every month, but it is noticeable: my highest summer bill went from about $240 to $145. The battery usually reaches full charge by midafternoon, and I still have enough capacity for the evening peak.
During a brief outage, the backup power kicked in almost instantly. The lights stayed on and my router never rebooted, although I learned that the system will not run every large appliance indefinitely. I now avoid starting the electric oven during an outage and keep the reserve setting at 25 percent.
That investment feels worthwhile financially.
