Solution Solar Inverter
Variable electricity prices were the reason I finally added a home battery to my rooftop solar system. My installer recommended the eve 100 after looking at my evening usage, and the main attraction was straightforward peak-hour shifting rather than squeezing more panels onto the roof.
Setup took most of a day. The crew mounted the battery beside my inverter, connected it to the existing solar array, and walked me through the app. I was nervous about the wiring and noise, but it was surprisingly tidy. The only nuisance was waiting for the utility approval; my system stayed in standby for several days before the final inspection.
The first week made the benefit obvious. My panels charge the battery through the afternoon, then the battery powers the refrigerator, Wi-Fi, lights, and heat-pump water heater after sunset. Previously, those evening hours were when my household pulled the most electricity from the grid. Now the energy monitor shows remarkably little grid consumption between 4 and 9 p.m. That is the period my utility charges the highest.
On my first billing cycle, the bill dropped by about $62 compared with the same month last year, even though our usage was higher. I am not claiming the battery eliminated my bill; cloudy days still mean some grid power. However, the daily savings feel consistent, especially during hot evenings when the air conditioner runs. The solar battery gives me control over when I buy electricity, which matters more than simply generating extra power.
I did have one troubleshooting moment. During a firmware update, the app showed the battery offline for an hour. The house continued running normally, so I checked the inverter display instead of panicking. A reboot restored communication, and customer support confirmed it was a temporary update glitch. Since then, scheduling has worked reliably.
