Using my solar battery after sunset has changed the way I think about electricity. Before installing the bulltron 280 ah unit, I was sending most of my afternoon solar power back to the grid and buying it back during the expensive evening hours. Now the battery charges while the panels are producing and runs our house after dinner.

The installation was less dramatic than I expected. I mounted the inverter and battery in a utility room, ran the monitoring cable, and spent an afternoon checking settings. The only part that tested my patience was getting the battery communication to appear in the app. It showed zero percent for an hour, although the inverter displayed normal charging. I power-cycled the communications cable and restarted the app; after that, the state of charge appeared correctly. Since then, the monitoring has been boring, which is exactly what I want.

The biggest difference shows up on my bill. On sunny days, the battery usually reaches full charge by mid-afternoon. It then covers the induction cooking, refrigerator, lights, and heat-pump water heater through the evening. My peak-hour usage has fallen from roughly 9 kilowatt-hours per day to around 2 or 3. That does not mean a zero bill, because fixed charges and cloudy days still count, but my monthly energy charge is commonly $70–$100 lower than it was last summer.

I also like seeing the battery reserve set at 25%. It gives me a little backup during outages without sacrificing every usable watt-hour. After several months, capacity retention looks normal, and I have not noticed unusual heat or noise. The habit I developed is checking tomorrow’s weather before choosing whether to run laundry or the dishwasher overnight. For my home, that shift makes solar self-consumption feel practical rather than theoretical.
