2023 was the year we finally took the plunge with solar. After months of research, we settled on a system that included a pretty beefy solar energy storage battery. Honestly, the setup process was surprisingly smooth. The installers were efficient, and within a day, our panels were humming and the battery was charging.

What’s truly blown me away, though, is the peak-hour savings. Before, those evening hours, say 6 PM to 9 PM, were a constant source of dread on our electricity bill. Now, our house practically runs on sunshine that's been stored. We’ve got a couple of appliances that are power-hungry, like the oven and the dryer, and we’ve been consciously running those during peak hours, knowing the battery is covering the bulk of it. It’s like a little magic trick every evening. I've been checking the app obsessively, and seeing the grid draw drop to near zero during those expensive times is incredibly satisfying.

We even had a brief moment of panic during a small power flicker a few weeks ago. The lights went out for maybe half a second, and then – bam! – everything came back on, powered by the battery. No rebooting computers, no flickering lights, just seamless transition. It gave me so much more confidence in the system's reliability. We're still a relatively new user, but the biggest highlight so far has to be those tangible bill reductions and the peace of mind knowing we're not entirely at the mercy of the grid, especially when it comes to those expensive peak times. We're even considering expanding the capacity with another 12v lithium lifepo4 battery down the line.
