Using my xuba home battery for six months, the biggest change has been how I handle evenings. Before installation, my solar panels sent most excess power back to the grid during the day, then I bought electricity when rates were highest. Now the lithium iron phosphate battery charges after breakfast and carries that energy into dinner and bedtime.
My household is fairly ordinary: refrigerator, heat pump, induction stove, and a couple of laptops. I set the battery to reserve 25 percent for outages, so it usually discharges from 100 to 25 percent overnight. On sunny days, my utility bill has dropped by roughly $3 to $5 per day compared with last summer. That sounds modest, but across a month it is meaningful, especially because my evening peak rate is painful.
The most useful feature is the app's live energy flow screen. I can see solar production, home consumption, and battery discharge without guessing. One evening I noticed the battery stopped discharging at 45 percent. The app showed a backup setting had changed after a firmware update. I restored the 25-percent reserve, restarted the inverter, and everything returned to normal within a few minutes. It was not dramatic, but I appreciated finding the cause myself instead of assuming the solar battery was failing.
Installation was surprisingly quiet. The crew mounted the battery beside my inverter, labeled the shutdown switch, and explained the monitoring settings in plain language. The system makes a soft hum when charging, but I barely notice it from the kitchen. During one short outage, the lights flickered and the router stayed on, which was reassuring, although I have not tested heavy loads during a blackout.
For me, the value is not total energy independence. It is using my own solar power instead of buying expensive peak electricity.
