After the utility stabilized, it resumed normally; no technician visit was needed. I now keep a 20% reserve instead of 10%, since our outages are usually short but unpredictable.

For me, the value is not total energy independence. It is quieter bills, fewer peak-hour purchases, and confidence that the freezer and lights will keep running. I would ask installers to explain battery storage savings.
