Solution Solar Battery DIY Parts
Over the past year, my solar battery has changed the way I use electricity at home. I installed a 5 kWh storage unit after noticing that my solar panels produced plenty of power during the day, while my household used most electricity in the evening. The battery now stores the excess solar energy instead of sending so much of it back to the grid.
The setup was more straightforward than I expected. My installer connected the battery to the existing solar inverter and added an energy meter in the main distribution box. I chose a system marketed with the exact wording “solarbatterie 280ah gel,” although I paid more attention to the usable capacity, warranty, and battery management system than the label itself. The installation took most of a day, including testing the backup and configuring the charging schedule.
The biggest difference appears between 5 p.m. and 10 p.m. I used to buy grid electricity during those hours for cooking, laundry, lighting, and the dishwasher. Now the battery supplies much of that demand. On sunny days, my evening grid consumption is almost zero. My monthly electricity bill has fallen by roughly 30 to 40 percent, depending on the season. In winter, the improvement is smaller because there is less solar generation, but the battery still helps shift midday production into the evening.
I did have one minor problem during the first month. The battery stopped discharging because the inverter detected an incorrect temperature reading. The app showed an error code, and the installer replaced a loose sensor connection the next morning. Since then, operation has been uneventful.
What I appreciate most is not watching the app constantly, but the quieter feeling of using my own solar power after sunset. The solar battery, home energy storage system, and automatic load shifting work in the background, and I now run high-consumption appliances more deliberately during sunny hours.
