Every evening since installing my deye sun 50k g03 battery storage system, I’ve noticed the biggest difference after sunset. Before it, my house pulled power from the grid through the expensive evening tariff, especially while cooking dinner and running the heat pump. Now the solar panels charge the battery during the day, and I use that stored energy between roughly 4 and 9 p.m. That simple change has made my electricity bill much less painful.
I didn’t install the system myself. My installer handled the inverter, battery cabinet, isolator, and monitoring setup, but I was involved enough to understand the basic settings. We set a reserve level of 20 percent so there would still be backup power if the grid failed. The app shows solar generation, household consumption, battery state of charge, and grid import in near real time. I can finally see where our energy goes, rather than guessing.
The savings are easiest to notice on weekdays. On a sunny day, the panels usually fill the battery by early afternoon. When the tariff jumps, the battery supplies the refrigerator, Wi-Fi, lights, dishwasher, and heat pump. My average peak-hour usage used to cost around $3 to $5 per evening; now it’s commonly under a dollar, depending on the weather and how long we cook. Across a month, that has been roughly $70 to $100 saved, not counting the extra benefit of using more of our own solar power.
There was one small troubleshooting moment. After a firmware update, the monitoring app showed the battery stuck at 99 percent for most of an afternoon. The inverter itself was operating normally, and the installer explained that the display was lagging, not that charging had stopped. Restarting the gateway fixed it within a few minutes. Since then, I don’t obsess over it very much.
