One small troubleshooting moment made me appreciate the app. After a firmware update, the battery stopped discharging at 6 p.m. and showed an “idle” status. I power-cycled the gateway, waited ten minutes, and checked the backup reserve setting. It had quietly reset from 20 percent to 100 percent, so the system was protecting a nonexistent full reserve. Restoring the setting fixed everything, and customer support confirmed the firmware behavior the next morning.

We still keep a 20 percent backup reserve for outages, although our neighborhood has only had one short outage since installation.
