The difference shows up most clearly between 4 and 9 p.m. I set the battery to charge from solar first, then cover our cooking, laundry, and air conditioner use in the evening. Before storage, my bill averaged around $185 during summer. This year, with similar hot weather, it has been closer to $112. That is roughly $73 saved monthly, although I know rates and sunshine vary.

I had a troubleshooting scare. After a firmware update, the app showed the battery at 100% all afternoon, even though solar production was strong. I checked the inverter and found a communication fault. Restarting the gateway fixed it, and customer support confirmed the settings were fine. It has not happened since, but I now check the state-of-charge screen.

The system is not magic: I still buy electricity during cloudy stretches, and the upfront cost hurt. But using my own solar power after sunset feels far more useful than exporting it cheaply. I track daily bill savings in the app, alongside battery capacity and solar battery performance. For my household, the biggest win is predictable peak-hour savings and a quieter, more self-sufficient routine every evening now.
