I installed a 10 kWh LiFePO4 battery beside my rooftop solar inverter last spring, mainly because my electricity bill jumped whenever the utility’s peak rate kicked in. My real goal was simple: store daytime solar energy and use it after dinner, instead of exporting cheap power and buying it back expensively.
The setup was less dramatic than I expected. The installer mounted the battery indoors in a utility room, added a backup gateway, and connected it to my existing inverter.
