Watching my electricity meter during the first week after installing my home battery was oddly satisfying. I had solar panels for two summers, but I was still sending cheap midday power to the grid and buying it back after dinner. I lowered it to 20 percent, restarted the controller, and normal operation returned within minutes. Since then I check the monitoring app weekly and keep the reserve at 25 percent.
For me, the best part is not having backup power for everything; it is using more of my own solar energy and watching peak grid purchases shrink. I am still learning how weather, battery capacity, and household habits affect the numbers, but the solar battery has already made our electricity use feel less wasteful and much more predictable. My only advice is to review the settings after software updates and avoid judging performance from cloudy days alone. The monthly trend tells the real story.
