Solution Solar Battery
Running my evening routine changed after I added a growatt storage LiFePO4 Battery to my rooftop solar system. Before that, my panels produced plenty of power at lunchtime, but I still bought expensive electricity after dinner. The battery now charges during the day and quietly carries our house through the peak period.
The installation was less dramatic than I expected. My installer mounted the battery in the garage, connected it to the hybrid inverter, and set a 20% backup reserve. I watched the app for the first few days like a hawk. Seeing solar energy flow into storage instead of immediately disappearing into the grid was surprisingly satisfying. By around 5:30 p.m., the battery usually starts supplying the refrigerator, lights, induction hob, and Wi-Fi equipment.
My biggest improvement is the evening electricity bill. Before installing this home battery, I averaged roughly $6 to $8 in peak charges on a normal sunny day. Now that cost is often under $2, depending on cooking and heating. My monthly bill has fallen by about 30%, even though our household usage has not changed much. It is not total energy independence, but the difference is obvious when I compare utility statements.
I did have one minor scare during the first week. The battery stopped discharging at 8 p.m., and the app showed “standby.” I found that a firmware update had reset the operating mode to backup only. After switching it back to self-consumption, everything worked normally. I also learned that the battery does not need constant attention; I check its state of charge maybe twice a week.
During a brief outage last month, it transferred quickly enough that the lights flickered, but our router stayed online. That practical backup matters more to me than chasing a zero-dollar bill.
