Solution Solar Inverter
Recently, I added a home battery to my rooftop solar system, and the biggest difference has been how much less electricity I buy during the evening. My setup uses a growatt inverter sph 6000 51.2V Battery, paired with my existing solar panels. I chose this size mainly because our household uses a lot of power after sunset: cooking, laundry, lights, and occasionally the air conditioner.
Before installing energy storage, my solar panels exported plenty of electricity during the afternoon, but I still pulled power from the grid during expensive peak hours. Now, the lithium battery charges from excess solar around midday and supplies the house from late afternoon until bedtime. On a typical sunny day, the battery reaches about 90–100% before dinner. By 10 p.m., it is usually somewhere between 35% and 55%, depending on whether we used the oven or air conditioning.
The monthly savings have been noticeable rather than dramatic. My utility bill has dropped by roughly 25–35% compared with the same months last year, even though our usage has stayed fairly similar. The real benefit is avoiding peak-rate electricity, not simply generating more solar power. I also like having backup power for short outages, although I have not tested it with every appliance.
I did have one small troubleshooting moment during the first week. The battery stopped discharging overnight because the inverter’s operating schedule was still set to a conservative factory mode. After checking the monitoring app and changing the time-of-use settings, it began working normally. Since then, I check the battery state of charge every few days, but I rarely need to adjust anything.
For me, the solar battery has made my existing photovoltaic system much more useful. I am not completely independent from the grid, but I am using more of my own solar energy and wasting less of it during the day.
