The battery covered nearly all of it, leaving the grid to supply only the refrigerator startup surges and a few appliances I forgot to switch off. My monthly bill fell from around $168 to $94, despite running the same air conditioner. Winter savings are smaller, but peak demand charges still dropped noticeably.

I did have one troubleshooting moment. After a firmware update, the inverter stopped discharging at sunset and showed a battery communication warning. I checked the cables, restarted the system, and discovered the battery breaker had tripped during a brief outage. Resetting it cleared the warning, and the Growatt monitoring app showed normal charge and discharge graphs. Since then, I added a small surge protector and enabled automatic restart. I also keep the battery at about 20% reserve so we have backup power for lights and internet during outages.

What I appreciate most is not the headline capacity, but the predictability. I can check the solar battery state of charge from my phone and know whether to run the dishwasher before bed. The system has not eliminated my electric bill, yet it has made expensive evening electricity far less painful. For my home, this hybrid inverter and LiFePO4 battery combination feels like practical insurance with a daily return, rather than a gadget I bought and rarely think about.
