Solution Solar Inverter
Having lived with rooftop solar for three years, I added a 280Ah LiFePO4 battery after getting tired of sending cheap daytime electricity back to the grid and buying it back at night. My system uses the exact shenzhen basen technology 280ah battery connected to a 5kW hybrid inverter. The installation was simple: the electrician mounted the battery in a ventilated utility room, set the charge and discharge limits, and paired it with my solar panels.
The biggest difference shows up between 4:00 and 9:00 p.m. My dishwasher, refrigerator, router, lights, and heat pump now run mostly from stored energy during peak pricing. Before the battery, our winter evening usage pushed the daily bill above $4; lately it’s usually around $1.50. Across a month, I saved roughly $70, which feels more meaningful than the app’s graphs. On sunny days, solar charging finishes by early afternoon, and the battery reaches 100% before dinner. On cloudy days, I lower the evening loads and avoid running the clothes dryer.
I did have one annoying troubleshooting moment. After a firmware update, the inverter reported a battery communication fault and stopped discharging overnight. I power-cycled the inverter, checked the CAN cable seating, and restarted the BMS connection. The fault cleared after ten minutes, although I watched it for two nights before trusting it again. Since then, the state-of-charge readings have been stable, and I haven’t needed to touch anything. The only habit I changed is checking the battery temperature during very cold mornings.
For me, the value is quieter bills, better use of my solar production, and less dependence on peak grid rates. For anyone considering home battery storage, I would budget for commissioning and leave room for capacity expansion.
