Running my solar battery system has changed how I think about electricity, especially during the expensive evening hours. I installed a growatt 5kw 3 phase inverter 48V Battery setup after watching my power bills climb through summer. My rooftop solar panels already produced plenty during the day, but without energy storage, most of that cheap solar power went back to the grid.
The installation itself was fairly straightforward, although the battery cabinet was heavier than I expected. My installer mounted the inverter beside it in the garage and connected the system to my existing solar array. I spent the first week checking the monitoring app far too often. Seeing the battery charge from around 30% to 95% before lunch was surprisingly satisfying.
The biggest practical difference comes after sunset. Previously, my household shifted into expensive grid power around 5 p.m., just when we started cooking, running the dishwasher, and using lights. Now the lithium battery usually carries those loads until about 10 p.m. On a normal sunny day, I use very little grid electricity during peak-rate hours. My daily bill savings are not dramatic every single day, but across a month they have been noticeable—roughly 25–35% lower than before, depending on weather and heating use.
I did have one minor troubleshooting moment. The battery stopped discharging one evening even though its charge level was healthy. The app showed a standby warning, and I initially thought the inverter had failed. After checking the settings, I found that a firmware update had reset the discharge schedule. I restored the time-of-use settings, restarted the inverter, and the battery began working normally again.
Since then, the solar energy storage system has been quiet and reliable. I still monitor the state of charge and avoid draining it completely, but most days I simply let the solar panels, hybrid inverter, and battery handle the routine without much attention.
