Solution Solar Inverter
Running our solar battery through its first summer has changed the way I think about electricity at home. Before installation, our rooftop panels sent most excess power straight to the grid during the afternoon, then we bought it back at an expensive evening rate. The battery now charges after lunch and carries our house through dinner, when the utility price is highest.
I chose a 10-kWh lithium iron phosphate unit after comparing quotes. The installed price was not small, but I cared more about predictable bills than getting the cheapest battery. My installer mounted it in the garage, added a hybrid inverter, and finished the setup in one day. The app showed solar generation, battery state of charge, and household consumption without making me learn electrical jargon.
The biggest surprise has been the peak-hour saving. On sunny weekdays, the battery reaches 100 percent around two o'clock. It then runs the refrigerator, Wi-Fi, lights, and heat-pump water heater from roughly 4:30 until bedtime. My evening grid usage fell by about 70 percent, and our monthly bill dropped roughly $45 during the first full month. Across the summer, that is already more satisfying than I expected, especially because the battery also kept essential circuits running during two short outages.
One minor hiccup happened after a firmware update. The app reported the battery was offline, although the inverter was humming normally. I restarted the gateway and checked the communication cable, but nothing changed. A support technician called me back the next morning, refreshed the connection remotely, and explained that the battery had continued operating locally. Since then, the monitoring has been reliable.
I still check forecasts, but the savings and backup feel worthwhile every day.
